Ilios Unlocks Atlanta Market with Sale of Two Units

WALTHAM, Mass., Sept. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ilios Dynamics Inc., a subsidiary of Tecogen® Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) today announced the sale of two HEWH-500-WS natural gas engine-driven heat pump modules to construction services firm CFLane for installation in Atlanta, GA. The modules will be installed in the firm's headquarters and will generate nearly 1,000,000 BTU/hr of heat and over 40 tons of cooling for the facility. The centerpiece of a major energy efficiency retrofit to the building's aging mechanical systems, the Ilios modules will serve simultaneous heating and cooling loads in the building's retail, office, and apartment spaces.

"The mixed-use nature of the building coupled with much needed cooling during Atlanta's hot summer months makes the Ilios units a logical fit for the site's needs," said Raymond van Beveren, CFLane's Senior Vice President, Construction Services. Speaking about the project, Robert Panora, President and COO of Tecogen agreed, "This installation is an excellent example of Ilios technology's ideal customer application." Ilios generated hot water is produced at twice the efficiency of traditional boiler systems and generates useful cooling as a free byproduct; resulting in substantial natural gas savings as well as electricity savings by offsetting energy that would have been consumed by the existing boilers and chillers. Additionally, due to the high efficiency of the Ilios modules there will be a significant carbon emission reduction realized by the facility.

"We are excited to break into a burgeoning market such as Atlanta," said Stephen Lafaille, Ilios Product Manager. "It is the next step for us as we have been seeding the market in the various major metropolitan areas along the East Coast. We look forward to building off of this initial sale and increasing our presence in Atlanta."
