Tecogen Sells Combined Heat and Power (CHP) System to Long Island County Office Building

WALTHAM, Mass., July 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen® Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) today announced the sale of a CM-75 combined heat and power (CHP) module for installation into a county government office complex in Long Island, NY. The unit was purchased by the installing contractor, whose schedule for on-site commissioning is planned for the fourth quarter of this year. During operation, the CHP plant will generate 75 kW of electricity and twice that amount of energy in the form of hot water to supplement the facility's heating system.

Power generation by the CHP system will be produced at twice the efficiency of the electric power grid, resulting in proportionally lower carbon emissions and operating costs to the county.

"Long Island has some of the highest electricity tariffs in the Northeast, a significant financial burden for government institutions and consequently the tax payers," said Robert Panora, President and COO of Tecogen. "For government facilities at every level and type, Tecogen provides a reliable, cost-effective solution for reducing energy consumption and cutting costs with an environmentally-friendly solution."
