WALTHAM, Mass., Jan. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen^® Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) today announced the sale of a Tecochill^® CH-200x natural gas-powered chiller to the Mandell Jewish Community Center in West Hartford, CT.  The new chiller is replacing one of the facility's two electric chillers and it will provide two-thirds of the Center's air conditioning.

The new chiller will substantially reduce the cost of air-conditioning especially during peak hours when electricity from the grid is the most expensive and the 120,000 square foot facility is in full use.

"We have known about Tecogen for a number of years because their equipment has been providing air conditioning to the Hebrew Home and Hospital, our neighbor on the Zachs Campus," said Frank Resnick, CFO of the Mandell Jewish Community Center.  "With rising utility rates plus an incentive from the state to use less energy from the grid, the decision was easy."

The Mandell Jewish Community Center received a grant from Connecticut's Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) as an incentive to offload the grid during peak hours.
