Seven Tecogen CHP Modules Chosen to Power Condo Co-ops in New York

Improving Efficiency While Lowering Operating Costs

WALTHAM, Mass., Oct. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen Inc. today announced sales of its natural gas engine-driven combined heat and power (CHP) systems to condo co-ops in New York. Tecogen CHP products are known for helping reduce fuel consumption, operating costs and carbon footprints significantly, and maximizing overall energy efficiency.

Five 100 kW InVerde CHP modules with available standby power and two 75 kW induction-based CHP modules have been chosen by the condo co-op boards for installation at their residences. Two of these units will be installed by Tecogen as turnkeys.

"CHP is a common sense addition to most high rise condominiums though the benefits have not necessarily become common knowledge," said Robert Panora, President and COO of Tecogen.  "In an era where energy efficiency, environmental and fiscal responsibility all hold great importance to everyone, people are looking deeper for solutions.  We have found that condo co-op boards are particularly receptive to alternative energy solutions especially those that have strong economic paybacks.  We are proud to see that boards are choosing Tecogen CHP as their energy solution."

Tecogen CHP systems offer facilities energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and the ability to meet today's most stringent air quality requirements by virtually eliminating criteria pollutants (contributors to smog) using a proprietary two-stage emission system. A combination of microgrid capabilities, interconnection certification, black start and high part-load efficiencies, makes Tecogen systems a particularly attractive way to produce cleaner, more efficient energy.
