Ilios Breaks into New York Hospitality Market

WALTHAM, Mass., Jan. 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen® Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) is pleased to announce subsidiary Ilios® Inc. sold a high efficiency water sourced unit for installation in a luxury hotel outside Manhattan, NY. The cost-saving Ilios water heater runs on cheap and abundant natural gas and will be fitted with Tecogen's patented ultra-clean Ultera™ emissions control technology, bringing emission of harmful smog-inducing pollutants down to near-zero levels.  Ilios generated hot water is produced at twice the efficiency of traditional boiler systems and generates useful cooling as a free byproduct; resulting in substantial natural gas savings as well as electricity savings by offsetting energy that would have been consumed by a traditional HVAC system. Additionally, due to the high efficiency of the Ilios modules there will be a significant carbon emission reduction realized by the facility.

Stephen Lafaille, Ilios Product Manager, commented, "This installation will be a great example of the value proposition Ilios offers customers in the hospitality space. We are thrilled to be working with a leading energy efficiency solutions provider like OpTerra Energy Services that understands the long term savings potential our equipment provides to their customers."

Speaking about the deal, John Pifer of OpTerra Energy Services Commercial and Industrial Division, the national energy services and engineering firm that designed and implemented the project, noted, "Given OpTerra's focus on providing our customers with the most sustainable and energy efficient solutions, the Ilios unit was a great fit for this particular project. The Ilios gas heat pump's best in class efficiency and compact size make it a natural fit for cost-conscious property managers. We look forward to working with Tecogen and the Ilios team again."

Ilios's High Efficiency Water Heater, which can operate on either natural gas or propane, is an excellent alternative to conventional water heating systems. Ideal for locations with a gas demand of at least 4000 therms/month, such as swimming pools, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, apartment buildings and recreation centers, the hotel is an excellent example of and advantaged Ilios installation. The hotel includes 38 luxury suites, two restaurants, a large spa, state-of-the-art fitness center and rooftop pool, all of which will benefit from Ilios's efficiently produced domestic hot water.
