John N. Hatsopoulos
Co-Chief Executive Officer
John Hatsopoulos has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Company since the organization of Tecogen in 2000. He is also Co-Chief Executive Officer of American DG Energy Inc., a publicly traded company in the On-Site Utility business. Previously, Mr. Hatsopoulos was the President, Chief Financial Officer and Vice Chairman of the Board of Thermo Electron Corporation which is now Thermo Fisher Scientific (NYSE: TMO). During his tenure at Thermo, he innovated and implemented numerous financial strategies that became the focus of worldwide interest. His spinout strategy resulted in 24 public companies and Thermo Electron and its subsidiaries were able to raise close to $5 billion of capital. Mr. Hatsopoulos graduated from Athens College in Athens, Greece. He holds a B.S. in history and mathematics from Northeastern University, together with Honorary Doctorates in Business Administration from Boston College and Northeastern University.
Benjamin M. Locke
Co-Chief Executive Officer
Benjamin M. Locke was named Co-Chief Executive Officer in October, 2014. Mr. Locke joined Tecogen in June, 2013 as the Director of Corporate Strategy and was promoted to General Manager prior to his appointment as Co-CEO. Previously, he was the Director of Business Development and Government Affairs at Metabolix, responsible for developing and executing plans for partnerships, joint ventures, acquisitions, and other strategic arrangements for commercializing profitable clean energy technologies. Prior to joining Metabolix in 2001, he was Vice President of Research at Innovative Imaging Systems (IISI), a high-technology R&D company. At IISI, Mr. Locke drove the development and implementation of growth strategies for the funding of specialty electronic systems for the United States Government.
Mr. Locke holds a B.S. in Physics from the University of Massachusetts, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University, and an M.B.A. in Corporate Finance from Boston University.
Robert A. Panora
Chier Operations Officer
Robert Panora has served as President of Tecogen since 2000. Mr. Panora had been General Manager of Tecogen’s Product Group since 1990 and Manager of Product Development, Engineering Manager, and Operations Manager of the Company since 1984. Over his 27-year tenure with Tecogen, he has been responsible for sales and marketing, engineering, service and manufacturing. He contributed to the development of our first product, the CM-60 cogeneration module, and was Program Manager for the cogeneration and chiller projects that followed. Mr. Panora has had considerable influence on many aspects of our business, from building the employee team, to conceptualizing product designs and authoring many of the original business documents, sales tools, and product literature pieces.
Mr. Panora holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University.
David A. Garrison
Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Secretary
David Garrison has been our Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Secretary since August of 2014. Prior to joining Tecogen, Mr. Garrison was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Arrhythmia Research Technology, Inc. and its subsidiary Micron Products, Inc. since 2002. Leading the finance department of this NYSE listed company, he oversaw all aspects of SEC compliance, internal controls and raising capital through debt in a capital intensive medical device manufacturing business. Prior to Arrhythmia, Mr. Garrison spent nine years as Controller and Chief Financial Officer of H & R 1871, Inc., a privately held manufacturer of consumer products. A rapidly growing business that culminated with a liquidity event yielding a 70% return on investment.
Mr. Garrison holds a B.S. in Finance from Miami University and an M.B.A. from Boston University.
Chief Technology Officer
Joseph Gehret is our Chief Technical Officer. Mr. Gehret is responsible for leading technology development at Tecogen and defining the company’s research and development efforts. With an expansive depth and breadth of classic, as well as cutting edge technology, he has been integral in the development of all Tecogen products and technology for 30 years. He is the primary author on all of Tecogen’s major patents. In addition to leadership roles in all Tecogen technology development, Mr. Gehret has designed and developed the necessary hardware, as well as the software code, for all of Tecogen’s product lines.
Mr. Gehret holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Manager of Engineering
Jean Roy serves as our Manager of Engineering. As the principal-in-charge, Ms. Roy is responsible for all aspects of product development, design, testing and manufacturing. For more than 20 years, she has been at the forefront of every major Tecogen project, including the development of the InVerde, a 100-kW inverter-based CHP module, as well as the Ilios heat pump water heater. Ms. Roy has also led several funded R&D contracts, including the Consortium for Electric Reliability Technology Solutions (CERTS) Microgrid development program, the Ultra emissions system, and the small CHP advanced engine.
Ms. Roy holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University.
Vice President of Sales
Eastern Operations, has a territory that encompasses the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast U.S., as well as Europe. Jeffrey Glick’s primary responsibilities include marketing our cogeneration and chiller product lines, managing and training sales representatives, and managing all training-related activities for the engineering community. He also performs as the liaison to the natural gas industry in the Northeast. He has been with Tecogen for more than 20 years. Prior to working for Tecogen, Mr. Glick was a Thermal Design Engineer and Project Engineer for CE Lummus Heat Transfer Systems (Bloomfield, NJ), where he was responsible for design and installation of process fired heaters for the petrochemical industry.
Mr. Glick holds a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts and an M.S. from Manhattan College, both in Chemical Engineering.
Vice President of Sales
Western Operations, has a territory that focuses on California, but also includes 22 other U.S. states, Western Canada, Mexico, the Pacific and Asia. William Martini is responsible for marketing our cogeneration and chiller product lines. Mr. Martini represents Tecogen directly to our customers, including hospitals, schools and colleges, government building operators, and industrial facilities, which he has supported for more than 20 years. He performs detailed economic feasibility analyses for customers and assists in managing their installations and ongoing service needs. He works directly with consulting engineers, contractors, our local service offices, utilities, regulatory agencies and local permitting authorities. Mr. Martini supports our western distribution network, including more than 20 manufacturers’ representatives and their salespeople.
Mr. Martini holds an A.B. in Engineering Science from Dartmouth College.
Joseph E. Gehret
Director of Field Operations
Joseph E. Gehret came to Tecogen in 2009 as an Application Engineer working with our sales team on new customer projects. It quickly became apparent that Mr. Gehret’s technical knowledge, his degree in construction management and his experience with managing complex, multi-million dollar construction projects made him the perfect individual to fill the newly created position of Field Operations Manager. In this position, he oversees our Field Service Technicians nationwide and manages our service and maintenance contracts. Mr. Gehret provides technical support for both our technicians and our customers and is responsible for our installations and turnkey projects.
Mr. Gehret graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Wentworth Institute of Technology with an S.B. in Construction Management and was inducted into the Sigma Lambda Chi International Construction Honor Society.
