Exceptional Savings
Tecogen’s ultra-efficient CHP products can deliver significant energy and operating cost savings of up to 50% in many types of facilities, possibly including yours.
Tecogen CHP products are among the very most efficient ways to provide electricity, heat, and cooling to a building. This is because of their thrifty capture of “waste” heat, and the elimination of the thermal/generation losses and T&D line losses that are normally associated with how the utility gets power to your building. This huge leap in overall efficiency translates into immediate dollar savings for your facility, up to 50% in some applications and locations.
To find out if CHP could work in your particular facility, Tecogen is available to perform a free economic feasibility analysis for you, upon request. Here are the two main approaches:

- With a TECOGEN cogeneration system, you will lower your monthly electric bill considerably by reducing what you pay the electric utility for both energy (kWh) and demand (kW) charges. In addition, free thermal energy (in the form of hot water) can be captured from the Tecogen system's engine and used to meet your building's heating loads, instead of running your boilers. With maintenance costs and fuel for the units taken into account, switching to Tecogen cogeneration results in a net cost savings of up to 50%. Tecogen cogeneration can definitely be an outstanding and proven solution worth considering.

-
With a TECOCHILL chiller system, you will again reduce your building’s electric bill considerably. The normal assumption is that, if not for TECOCHILL, your building would operate one or more conventional electric chillers to satisfy your cooling loads. Electric chiller “base case” costs a lot, because on-peak electricity costs a lot (including the utility’s kWh energy charges, and especially its peak kW demand charges). In general, on an equivalent energy ($/Btu) basis, natural gas has a huge price advantage over electricity. This is particularly true in summer, when gas can be considered “off-peak,” but electricity is definitely “on-peak.” This is where the big savings come from with TECOCHILL. On an equivalent “Btu” basis, electricity can cost 40 times as much as natural gas in summer, once you figure in all the utility’s charges. You’ll be permanently relieving congestion on the utility grid at a time when its power is most expensive and least efficiently produced.
As an option with Tecochill, you can even recover the free waste heat off your Tecochill’s engine(s) and use it to relieve your boilers and water heaters, yielding you further savings. And, if a building's cooling needs are growing, but the building is getting short on power capacity, the Tecochill can avoid costly service upgrades.
With Tecochill, your building’s net costs for cooling could drop by as much as 50%. So, if your building is in the market for a new chiller, Tecochill is an excellent option to consider.
If CHP does look like a good option for your facility, we’ll then work with you to figure out what the next steps might be. This could include, for instance: additional, more detailed feasibility and engineering analysis, an on-site assessment of your facility, a tour to a nearby successful Tecogen installation, preliminary engineering, a review of financing options and possible incentives and tax benefits, obtaining contractor estimates, or a complete “turnkey” proposal that includes installation by Tecogen.
If it looks like your building might have the right profile to apply Tecogen CHP, we think you owe it to yourself and your organization to explore it further.
