Tecogen is a next-generation manufacturer of natural-gas-fueled, engine-driven, combined heat and power (CHP) products that aim to reduce energy costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and alleviate congestion on the national power grid. Tecogen’s environmentally friendly products include cogeneration modules which provide electricity and heat, chillers which provide air-conditioning and optional free hot water and a new ultra-efficient water heater.
Located in Waltham, MA, Tecogen is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician to work in our manufacturing facility. Position requires assembly of the engine-driven industrial equipment described above. The ideal candidate should have the following skills:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assemble, disassemble, test, and perform inspection of electro-mechanical assemblies?
· Electrical assembly including installing wire harnesses, point to point wiring, and soldering
· Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical orders to determine methods and sequences of assembly
· Troubleshoot, and resolving production problems related to electro-mechanical assemblies
· Good mechanical aptitude using hand tools, multi-meters, air tools and power tools with a "hands on" approach
· Must have the flexibility to work first shift, overtime, and Saturdays as demanded by the job
· Ability to read and understand the English language
OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS DUTIES:
· Ensures compliance with all company customer regulations, policies, and procedures
· Achieve performance expectations set forth as part of performance appraisals to include development planning
· Communications with all team members to support the development of short and long range planning in support of the company’s goals and objectives
· Maintain, and use company provided tools in a safe, and proper manner
· Accurate and timely administrative duties to include, but not limited to, time accounting and work order completion
· Must maintain positive customer and employee relations
· Employee will perform any and all other duties that are assigned by the supervisor
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma
· Trade School graduate preferred
· Two or more years of experience
· Experience with wire preparation: Including cutting, stripping, crimping, and harnessing
· Experience in reading blueprints, control system wiring and electrical schematics
· Soldering experience required
· Experience working in a certified environment, such as ISO, IPC610, or IPC620 preferred
· Understanding of ESD requirements
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, climb flights of stairs, and ladders, work from elevated areas, and wear a respirator when required by the job.? Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate hand tools and industrial machinery such as a truck or fork-lift.? The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.?
The employee must regularly lift and /?or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally 75 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.?

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration.? The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold, wet and/?or humid conditions.?
