Welder / Fabricator

Tecogen is a next-generation manufacturer of natural-gas-fueled, engine-driven, combined heat and power (CHP) products that aim to reduce energy costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and alleviate congestion on the national power grid.

Tecogen’s ultra-efficient products include cogeneration modules, which provide electricity and heat, and chillers, which provide air-conditioning and optional free hot water. Tecogen’s products supply electrical power or mechanical power for cooling, as well as free engine heat that is recovered and purposefully used at customer facilities. Broadly speaking, they are all considered Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems.

Position Description:
Located in Waltham, MA, Tecogen is seeking a Welder/Fabricator to work in a manufacturing facility. Position requires assembly of the engine-driven industrial equipment described above. The ideal candidate should have the following skills:
  1. Fit-up & weld steel process piping up to 4” with TIG
  2. Fit-up & solder (soft solder and silver solder) copper tubing up to 3”
  3. Blueprint reading a must
  4. Knowledge of pressure vessel systems
  5. Mechanical assembly using hand tools, air tools and power tools
  6. ASME experience desired
  7. Rigging and Refrigeration handling preferred
Desired Experience:
  1. Trade school graduate
  2. Certification as an ASME welder
  3. Certification as a fork truck operator
